
Stewart Schlazer attended Florida State University earning a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition and a Bachelor of Music Education graduating summa cum laude in 2008. Stewart earned his Master’s Degree at the American Band Directors College of Sam Houston State University in 2017. He has played in marching band, concert band, symphony orchestras, woodwind quintets, and Klezmer bands. He plays bassoon in the Pacific University Philharmonic.
During his 16 years of teaching, Stewart has taught all grade levels—Kindergarten through 12th grade. He has taught a myriad of music courses besides band including general music, choir, electronic music, guitar, piano, percussion, eurhythmics, and music appreciation. He currently teaches two symphonic bands, two jazz bands, marching band, percussion, guitar, and conducts the musical at Forest Grove High School in Forest Grove, Oregon. He has taught bassoon lessons, ran sectionals, and was the co-founder of the Band Project for Pacific University. Stewart is a member of NAfME and OMEA and serves as the OMEA District III President and OMEA/OSAA State Solo Chair. He is eager to help improve music in Oregon!
