Kent Wilson is entering his 11th year in choral music education, currently as the choir director at Whitford Middle school. While at Whitford, he has continually worked to grow membership and visibility of the program. In 2026, his 8th grade choir was granted the honor of performing at the OMEA conference. He also stays active as an adjudicator and guest conductor for middle school choir events throughout the Northwest. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct for music education courses at the college level and is currently an adjunct voice faculty member at George Fox University. He has a passion for middle school choir and making sure students have safe places to fail, to explore, and to celebrate the big and small wins. His work in the classroom and out centers on the student experience, valuing student input, and helping them become more collaborative and community-minded people.
He is a member of OMEA, ACDA, and the Portland Alumni Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon. He also sings with Willamette Master Chorus and works frequently in musical theater as a musician and music director, with various theater companies around the state. When he isn’t doing something music related, you can find him in the kitchen recipe testing or scrolling Tik Tok to keep up with Gen Alpha.
