Frank Petrik, Band Chair

Frank Petrik is the Director of Bands at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon, where he leads the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Program. He is currently in his twenty-seventh year of teaching and has spent his career dedicated to building outstanding music programs and creating meaningful musical experiences for students throughout Oregon.

Petrik earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Montana State University and began his teaching career in Oregon, where he has served students and communities for more than two decades. Throughout his career, his ensembles have earned consistent recognition for excellence in performance, and many of his students have been selected to regional, state, and national honor ensembles.

In addition to his work in the classroom, Petrik is an active clinician, adjudicator, mentor, and advocate for music education. He has presented leadership workshops, mentored developing educators, and worked extensively with student leadership programs focused on creating positive ensemble culture, student ownership, and musical excellence.

A dedicated leader within the profession, Petrik recently completed his term as President of the Oregon Band Directors Association (OBDA) and now serves as its Past President. During his tenure, he helped lead statewide initiatives focused on adjudication, state event access, membership engagement, orchestra representation, and the future of large-group music events in Oregon. He also serves as Manager of the OMEA All-State Wind Ensemble and remains actively involved in supporting music educators across the state.

Petrik is a member of OBDA, OMEA, NAfME, and Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity. He is a frequent honor band conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the Pacific Northwest. Outside of music education, he enjoys trail running, hiking, fly fishing, photography, and traveling with his wife and family.
