NAfME Webinar: Unlock the Trombone Code: Tips for Helping Young Trombone Players

This session identifies a range of common performance challenges frequently encountered by young trombone players, including issues related to tone production, articulation, slide accuracy, and breath support. Through detailed explanations, helpful tips, and hands-on exercises, the session provides practical, accessible solutions to help students address these difficulties and make noticeable improvements in their playing. Designed to strengthen foundational skills and boost musical confidence, this session supports both student growth and instructional effectiveness.

Li Kuang headshotLi Kuang is Assistant Professor of Music at Portland State University, where he teaches trombone, music theory, chamber music, and directs the PSU Trombone Choir. Previously, he held teaching positions at Murray State University, the University of Texas at Austin, Southwestern University, and Blinn College. An Edwards and Ultimate Brass Artist, Li maintains an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer, with appearances at the International Trombone Festival, American Trombone Workshop, Big XII Trombone Conference, and Jinbao Festival. He has performed with the Oregon Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Paducah Symphony, and Chengdu Philharmonic.
