Erika Lockwood has been teaching singers from preschool through 12th grade since 2002, becoming the Director of Choirs at Rex Putnam High School in 2011. Under her direction, the choirs have been awarded numerous Gold Awards by the Oregon ACDA in addition to top placings in league and state festivals (OSAA 5A Champions, 2014 and 2022). Ms. Lockwood is a state certified choral adjudicator and has served on the board of the Oregon chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). She is currently serving as President of the Oregon Music Education Association (OMEA).
Ms. Lockwood holds a Master of Education as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music with High Honor from Portland State University. She serves as a mentor to teacher candidates as well as new music teachers in her area. She is passionate about equity, inclusion, and connection in the music classroom.
She lives in Milwaukie with her husband and two children – all musicians – and enjoys running, yoga, baking, and spending time on the water.
