Doug Doerfert is the Director of Instrumental Ensembles at Lane Community College where he conducts the Lane Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Chamber Music, and teaches Music Fundamentals and Aural Skills. As one of the full-time faculty, Doug works with music teachers across the state as a liaison in recruiting and outreach.
Prior to his appointment at Lane Community College, Mr. Doerfert was a high school band director for 13 years. He was also the Musical and Artistic Director of the Swing Shift Jazz Orchestra for several years.
As an active performer, Doug has performed regularly with the Eugene Composer’s Big Band, Jazz Station Monday Night Big Band, Nathan Poehlke Big Band, Emerald City Jazz Kings, SHEDD Musical Theater productions, and the Ridgeline Brass Quintet. He received his Masters of Music in Wind Conducting from the University of New Mexico and his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado.
