Description
The Henley story began in 1884 when irrigation in the district brought the influx of ranchers and farmers. William Steele had been involved in the organization of the irrigation district and when his daughter Sophia Henley, visited from Reno, she persuaded her husband, James Henley, to make the move to the area. The area grew and prospered and out of necessity, a school opened in 1909. The school was named after Mrs. Sophia Henley.
