Livy House (they/them) is a third-year student at the University of Oregon pursuing bachelor’s degrees in music education and percussion performance. They have performed as a part of the University of Oregon’s Wind Ensemble and Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, University Singers Choir, and are a member of the Oregon Percussion Ensemble. They also work part-time as an Assistant Piano Technician to help maintain the keyboard instruments at the School of Music. Livy was inspired to pursue a career in music education by their love of working with other people to create community, and their love of engaging with music as a community sparked by their time in the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra as a high school student.
In their free time, Livy loves to bake treats for the percussion studio and their CNAfME peers at the University of Oregon, and volunteer with the Cascades Raptor Center in Eugene! They enjoy the music and arts scene of Eugene and regularly attend concerts at the Hult Center and the Jazz Station, and feel at home in Oregon’s many nature preserves and wildlife areas where they love to birdwatch. They aspire to teach middle–high school instrumental music in the northwest once they graduate.
