NAfME Webinar: Combining Trauma Informed Pedagogy with the Active Learning Cycle

The purpose of this session is to provide music educators with strategies to combine and implement trauma informed pedagogy (TIP) and the active learning cycle into the classroom. Using the abundance model and growth mindset as frameworks for the presentation, the presenter will discuss the impact of trauma on students and the benefit of implementing TIP. In addition, the discussion on the active learning cycle will help music educators understand how to create a student-centered classroom and promote student autonomy. Last, the presenter will provide ideas on how to integrate TIP and the active learning cycle into repertoire selection, community building, and identity formation.
