Iris Erickson is a third-year music education student at Portland State University, studying within
the Honors Program. As a CNAfME Co-Representative, Iris believes that every student
deserves the opportunity to explore and develop their musical potential, and she is dedicated to
equipping learners with the tools and confidence they need to succeed.
Beyond her studies, Iris is actively involved in working with various community choirs, where she
values the role of collective music-making in strengthening social bonds and creating spaces of
belonging. She also performs periodically with the Oregon Symphony for seasonal events and
recently had the privilege of traveling to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall with Portland
State’s Briar Choir.
Iris is passionate about the transformative power of teaching and is committed to continually
refining her educational and musical practices with humility, empathy, and dedication.
