Dave Sime has been involved with high school bands in Oregon for 44 years.  He retired in the spring of 2016 from the Redmond School District.   He taught high school band for 34 years. Thirty of those years were in the Redmond School District, the last four at Ridgeview High School. He has also taught in Lakeview and Ione.  His main teaching duties involved Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Bands, and Jazz Bands.  He has also taught a Mariachi class and IB Music.  

His Bands performed at the Oregon Music Educators Association Conference and throughout the west coast, including Canada.  His bands won their league contest 15 times, winning their division of the OSAA State Championships once, and were runner-up three times.  Dave has also been active with the Oregon Ambassadors of Music, having gone on seven trips through Europe with some of Oregon’s finest high school musicians.  

Dave received OMEA’s Outstanding Music Educator Award in 2017.  He is a member of OMEA, the Oregon Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the Northwest Bandmasters Association.  He has been the Contest Chair for the OSAA State Band and Orchestra Contest for the last four years.  In his free time, he enjoys golf and loves playing with his twin grandkids.
