SUMMARY:West Salem High School Jazz Festival
DESCRIPTION:Greetings Fellow Educators!I would like to invite you to join us for the Seventh Annual West Salem High School Jazz Festival\, which will be held on Saturday\, February 9\, 2019 at West Salem High School in Salem.\nI am very pleased to announce that our guest artist for this year’s festival is Yamaha Performing Artist\, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon.  He will be performing during our noon concert hour\, and again prior to our evening awards ceremony.  Wycliffe is a globally recognized musician\, composer\, educator\, and author.  He is a veteran member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet\, original member of Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra\, and currently leads his own group.\nWe offer a unique format that will meet the needs of your band\, no matter their level.  Bands will be grouped in similar classifications for competition.  You\, the director\, select the classification that is appropriate for your group.   Each group will have a 30 minute time slot\, which includes an on stage clinic by one of the adjudicators\, set up and break down.
