DESCRIPTION:The SOU Concert\, Chamber\, and Alumni Choirs are proud to be combining forces again with the Rogue Valley Chorale to present the Master Voices Series\, an annual concert series designed to bring the very best of the choral-orchestral masterworks canon to Rogue Valley audiences. For the second annual series\, “American Masterpieces\,” over 170 musicians will fill the SOU Recital Hall stage to perform Randall Thompson’s Frostiana\, set of texts by poet Robert Frost; Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare\, a new choral work alternating between contemporary English and traditional Latin texts; and R. Nathaniel Dett’s The Chariot Jubilee\, a choral cantata blending influences from African American spiritual traditions with Western Classical Music and will include special guest artists Dr. Roderick George from the University of Montevallo as tenor soloist and organist Dr. J. Murphy-Mancini from Pacific Lutheran University. \n

DESCRIPTION:The SOU Concert\, Chamber\, and Alumni Choirs are proud to be combining forces again with the Rogue Valley Chorale to present the Master Voices Series\, an annual concert series designed to bring the very best of the choral-orchestral masterworks canon to Rogue Valley audiences. For the second annual series\, “American Masterpieces\,” over 170 musicians will fill the SOU Recital Hall stage to perform Randall Thompson’s Frostiana\, set of texts by poet Robert Frost; Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare\, a new choral work alternating between contemporary English and traditional Latin texts; and R. Nathaniel Dett’s The Chariot Jubilee\, a choral cantata blending influences from African American spiritual traditions with Western Classical Music and will include special guest artists Dr. Roderick George from the University of Montevallo as tenor soloist and organist Dr. J. Murphy-Mancini from Pacific Lutheran University. \n
