DESCRIPTION:The 2015 Oregon Jazz Festival will be held January 23-24 in Eugene\, OR.\nOur mission in creating the Oregon Jazz Festival is to give an opportunity for the diverse elements of our jazz community to come together in one event with the intent to support and celebrate jazz artistry\, life-long learning\, enjoyment and enrichment. Throughout this festival\, participating students have the opportunity to play and receive immediate critical feedback\, attend specialized clinics/workshops and hear professional jazz musicians speak and perform. The Oregon Jazz Festival is not a competition. Groups are encouraged to bring their ”works in progress” and to take away as much as possible from the experience of the day. Students are encouraged to watch\, listen and learn from each other\, as well as from the professional musicians they hear and work with throughout the day. \nAcclaimed jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis will be this year’s special guest clinician\, and evening concerts will feature a Clinicians Dectet performing music commissioned for the festival. SUMMARY:Oregon Children's Choral Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Oregon Children’s Choral Festival was established in 1982 to provide an annual venue for school and community children’s choirs to perform high quality choral music in the state of Oregon. The OCCF provides an opportunity for young singers aged 8-13 to meet and perform with other singers their own age in Oregon.\nEach year hundreds\, sometimes thousands\, of young singers come for all over Oregon to attend this loved festival. Young singers get to perform for and received feedback from adjudicators and clinicians\, some are chosen to perform for the whole festival and all choirs get to join in the mass pieces and experience the excitement and thrill of being in a world class performance hall! \nDirectors often tell us that the Festival is the highlight of their singers’ year because of all the fun\, experience and music it brings to their education and lives. \nIf you’ve not yet been to the OCCF\, you and your kids are in for a real treat. SUMMARY:West Salem H.S. Jazz Festival
DESCRIPTION:Our outstanding adjudicators include: Susie Jones\, formerly of Mt Hood Community College; Jason Palmer\, of Portland Community College; and Randy Kem\, saxophonist and jazz performer.  They will provide excellent feedback and a short clinic following your performance.  In addition\, The Western Hemisphere Jazz Orchestra\, under the direction of Keller Coker from Western Oregon University\, will perform during our noon concert hour; and the Willamette Valley Saxophone Quartet will perform prior to the evening awards ceremonies.\nWe offer a unique format that will meet the needs of your band\, no matter their level.  Bands will be grouped in similar classifications for competition.  You\, the director\, select the classification that is appropriate for your group.   Each group will have a 30 minute time slot\, which includes an on stage clinic by one of the adjudicators\, set up and break down.
