SUMMARY:Oregon Jazz Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 2015 Oregon Jazz Festival will be held January 23-24 in Eugene\, OR.\nOur mission in creating the Oregon Jazz Festival is to give an opportunity for the diverse elements of our jazz community to come together in one event with the intent to support and celebrate jazz artistry\, life-long learning\, enjoyment and enrichment. Throughout this festival\, participating students have the opportunity to play and receive immediate critical feedback\, attend specialized clinics/workshops and hear professional jazz musicians speak and perform. The Oregon Jazz Festival is not a competition. Groups are encouraged to bring their ”works in progress” and to take away as much as possible from the experience of the day. Students are encouraged to watch\, listen and learn from each other\, as well as from the professional musicians they hear and work with throughout the day. \nAcclaimed jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis will be this year’s special guest clinician\, and evening concerts will feature a Clinicians Dectet performing music commissioned for the festival.
